Welcome to Or-E-Con 2!  November 4-6, 2022

While Or-E-Con 2 is a free event, we are requesting donations both to cover the costs of the virtual event and for use elsewhere in the organization. As always, the various OSFCI charitable funds (Petrey fund especially) are also open to donations. Virtual conventions are less expensive than in-person conventions, but we do still have obligations and expenses and invite our followers, fellow fans, and those who miss a bit of the magic of OryCon to donate via credit card or Paypal by clicking the button below:

For over 40 years, OryCon has worked to bring you some of your favorite writers, artists, and creators in the science fiction and fantasy fandoms. In that time we who have run this convention have watched our community grow, develop, and change over time. Some of you have been with this convention since the beginning and some of you were born during this time; for some of you this is a fall family tradition just as special and important as Thanksgiving, and a good many of you have never missed it.

Unfortunately, we had to postpone OryCon in 2020 due to the pandemic and held a virtual Or-E-Con for the first time.  The next live OryCon42 was planned over two years with the committee being forced to make hard decisions about what to keep and what to change and adjust with every new pandemic order from the Governor’s office.  In light of the stress of the pandemic and the overall stress that our OryCon staff has been under, OSFCI decided to place OryCon on hold after OryCon 42 (November 12-14, 2021).

However, a few hardy souls put together a bid to hold another virtual convention, Or-E-Con 2, November 4-6, 2022.  Registration will be free, although donations would be most welcome, since Oregon Science Fiction Conventions, Inc. will be holding us to return a nominal per-member fee in return for their sponsorship.

Please take note that while they are not canceling OryCon forever, but rather are taking a hiatus for a year or so to reflect and evaluate our convention and bring it back fresh in the future, NO ONE HAS PRESENTED A BID TO CHAIR THE NEXT ORYCON 43 as of this writing.

We know many of you look forward to this event every year, and not having a full in-person event  this year is hard for all of us.  At this time, this all-volunteer convention DEPENDS ON YOU to work with past volunteers to put together a bid (with a chair or co-chair, treasurer, and hotel proposal) ready to organize volunteers to bring back to OryCon with fresh energy.  Our Sponsorship Guidelines on making a con bid will help you get started. If you would like more information, please feel free to reach out to OSFCI at president@osfci.org.
